Two Stage “Drawer”
Adapter
TwoPoreGuys’ test strips house the necessary chemistry and hardware to run tests on biological samples. To power the hardware, conduct tests, and read the data from said tests, the test strips interface with a motherboard – acting as the brain of the setup.

Customary adapters were made to allow test strips to interface with the motherboards. Many adapters were also made to ease the transition between motherboards and test strips design changes as designs evolved – allowing the new and experimental to work with anything that might be current or old.

This adapter design is one of two more for addressing issues with leaking test strips. Liquids containing salts, called buffers, would contaminate and corrode electrical connections over time.

This “drawer” adapter design worked by allowing a disposable PCB to mount at the end of it – indirectly connecting test strips to motherboards. Disposable PCBs would absorb any damage from leaks.

Unlike a single-stage setup, the two-stage design was envisioned to allow for the handling of more risky, highly infectious diseases by providing additional protection against contamination to the motherboard the adapter setup interfaces with. Springs and hook-like features formed mechanical push-button interlocks for easy removal and replacement of any of the adapter parts.
