The William Hyde and Susan Benteen Irwin Scholarship awards are granted to undergraduate University of California – Santa Cruz students for proven excellence in the arts. It is considered the most prestigious award in UCSC’s Art Department and is awarded by faculty nomination only. Twelve students receive $2,500 and a highly-publicized group show in the university’s Sesnon Gallery.

Each group of winners year-to-year has a chance to design and draft their themes for postcards that are used to promote the gallery showings. The 2014 Irwin Scholars wanted a South Park-themed postcard. I helped to design the card – creating South Park replicas of each student and the forest background. In being one of the 2014 Irwin Scholars, I also designed a South Park replica of myself.
